SeaLink South Australia has renewed its longstanding partnership with the South Adelaide Football Club (SAFC), reinforcing more than 30 years of support for youth football development and strengthening opportunities for young athletes from Kangaroo Island to connect, compete and grow alongside their mainland peers.
SeaLink will continue as a Silver Partner of SAFC and Premier Partner of the Club's junior development programs, including the Under-13, Under-14 and Under-15 Country and Metro squads for 2026.
For young footballers on Kangaroo Island, reaching elite development levels depends not only on talent, but on the ability to connect with broader pathway programs. Through in-kind ferry and coach travel support, SeaLink's support enables KI players to attend trials, training camps and matches that form part of the official South Australian National Football League (SANFL) talent pathway.
“Sport plays a vital role in building confidence, resilience and connection for young people, particularly in regional communities like Kangaroo Island,” said Tracy Croft, General Manager SeaLink South Australia.
“We're proud to continue supporting Kangaroo Island's young footballers to pursue opportunities on the mainland, build their skills, discover their potential, and open doors to what's possible for their future.”
Beyond travel assistance, the partnership includes joint recognition of the SAFC–SeaLink Kangaroo Island Football League (KIFL) Club of the Year award at the Kangaroo Island Football League Mail Medal, reinforcing a shared commitment to grassroots sport and celebrating clubs that foster participation and development across the island community.
Rachel Kimber, Marketing, Media and Partnership Manager, South Adelaide Football Club said the renewed agreement ensures young players from Kangaroo Island remain connected within the southern region talent pathway.
“SeaLink's continued support over the last 30 years has been critical in ensuring Kangaroo Island players can access training, competition and development opportunities alongside their mainland teammates. The ongoing partnership strengthens connection across regions and ensures our young athletes are supported to reach their full potential,” Ms Kimber said.
By helping connect island athletes to mainland pathways, this partnership ensures opportunity is driven by talent and determination.
As the partnership moves into 2026, the focus remains clear: supporting the Kangaroo Island community, strengthening regional connection and ensuring the next generation of Kangaroo Island athletes can confidently step from island grounds to mainland ovals, and beyond.
