"In the Heat of the Night" is the seventh episode of Formula 1: Drive to Survive Season 7, which premieres globally on Netflix alongside other episodes on 7 March. The series is produced by Box to Box Films, an award-winning production company specialising in high-end feature documentaries.
Viewers will experience the iconic night race through the driver's perspective, from practice sessions to the raw emotions following the gruelling final race, all set against the stunning backdrop of Singapore's city skyline.
Ms Tan Yen Nee, Executive Director, Brand, Singapore Tourism Board, said: "What sets this episode apart is its intimate access, offering millions of viewers worldwide a unique glimpse of Singapore through the lens of the F1 drivers. Ferrari's Charles Leclerc shared in the episode: “Singapore is one of my favourite tracks of the season. The feeling of driving on street tracks in general is incredible. It's a challenge that I like”. The Marina Bay Street Circuit, which made history in 2008 as F1's first night race, exemplifies Singapore's ability to reimagine and elevate global sporting events.
"Filming this episode in Singapore offered us a unique opportunity to capture the intensity of the race, as well as the city's vibrancy. Every element of our production came together perfectly - from securing locations to coordinating with local partners – allowing us to bring this unique episode to life," said Tom Hutchings, Executive Producer at Box to Box Films.
This episode was filmed during the Formula 1 Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix 2024 in September, in partnership with Netflix, Box to Box Films and the Singapore Tourism Board.
