Discover the New Mons Train Station and Experience Mons Lumière 2025

The City of Mons is delighted to invite you to the unveiling of its striking new train station, designed by the world-renowned architect Santiago Calatrava. Joining the ranks of Antwerp and Liège, Mons now boasts one of Belgium's grand, iconic train stations—a masterpiece of modern design that reflects the city's forward-looking spirit.

The official inauguration of the station will take place on 31 January 2025, coinciding with the much-anticipated Mons Lumière festival. This second edition of the festival builds on the resounding success of its 2024 debut, promising a breathtaking blend of art, light, and architecture.

Mons Lumière 2025 For eight enchanting evenings—from 30 January to 2 February and 6 to 9 February—Mons will transform into a luminous wonderland. The 3 km light trail will feature approximately 20 installations, weaving a poetic dialogue between nature and the cosmos under the theme 'Between Earth and Sky.'

This year's guest of honour, Japanese artist Tadashi Kawamata, will present a signature installation crafted from natural materials. Alongside Kawamata's work, the festival will showcase creations by a mix of local, national, and international artists. Open to all and entirely free, Mons Lumière offers a captivating journey through the historic city centre, where art and light harmonise with the urban landscape. Click here to see the press kit.
